Meet the Canton Team

Dr. Kevin Burt, Practice Partner
Dr. BurthDr. Kevin Burt graduated from Michigan State University with a B.S. in Wildlife Biology. He then was accepted to the College of Veterinary Medicine where he graduated with honors in 1990. Dr. Burt did a six week internship at Parkway Veterinary Hospital prior to graduating and was hired on as an associate following graduation. His interests include soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, and dermatology.

Dr. Burt is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Michigan Veterinary Medical Association and the Southeastern Michigan Veterinary Medical Association. He strives to further his education through both local and national conferences each year.

Dr. Burt currently lives in Canton with his dog Kelsie and cat Saphire, who was an adoption from the Detroit Animal Shelter. In his spare time he enjoys a number of outdoor activities including entertaining his dog (this usually involves a Frisbee), mountain biking, hiking, water and cross-country skiing, and landscaping. He also frequents the gym where he works out regularly.

Dr. Aubrie King, Practice Associate
Dr. KingDr. Aubrie King graduated from Michigan State University with a B.S. in Zoology in 2001 and a DVM from the MSU College of Veterinary Medicine in 2005.

Throughout high school and college she worked as a veterinary assistant. Dr. King started working at Parkway Veterinary Clinic as a veterinarian shortly after graduating. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the South Eastern Michigan Veterinary Medical Association.

Dr. King lives in Canton with her husband, Chris, and their dog, Olive. Olive was a stray at Parkway's Plymouth Office in spring 2006. Olive enjoys the beach and playing with her "crazy cone" dog toy, and also likes to occasionally accompany Dr. King to the office. Dr. King and her husband are season ticket holders for MSU football and follow Spartan sports regularly. They also enjoy spending time at their family cottages.

Dr. King has participated in many community activities, including the MegaMarch for Animals in Detroit in 2006, running in the Race for the Cure to support breast cancer research, and she has hosted a Girl Scout troop for a tour of the office. Although she has not yet earned any rewards, she has been rewarded with many nice letters from thoughtful clients.

Dr. Miranda Stoddard Dr. Stoddard
Dr. Stoddard graduated from Michigan State University with a BS in Animal Science in 2001, then from the College of Veterinary Medicine with a DVM in 2005. She spent her first three years in practice in western Michigan in a mixed-animal practice, and recently came to Parkway Veterinary Clinic to focus on her small animal interests. She is a member of the Michigan Veterinary Medical Association.

Dr. Stoddard lives in Canton with her two cats, Gish and Tess, and two Degus: the last of her collection of pocket pets (nicknamed the kitty buffet:; fear not, they are a visual rather than gastronomic treat for the cats) which has also included up to 7 rats and 3 mice.

When not at work, Dr. Stoddard enjoys travel -- favorite locations include Los Angeles, San Francisco, Kansas City and most recently New York -- and collecting resin ball-jointed dolls. She looks forward to getting to know the Canton area and its pets.

Jackie Wasenko, Licensed Veterinary Technician
JackieI have been at Parkway Veterinary Clinic since September of 2005. I have always wanted to work with animals and am a Licensed Veterinary Technician.

I own three dogs that I could not live without. Quincy was a stray that I found on the streets of Detroit and I am so glad I did! He is a Tibetan Spaniel mix. He is my best friend and I love him so much. Dozer is a white Boxer who is very loving and quite a character. Tilly is an English Bulldog that we got in 2004 when she was a puppy. She has a very spunky attitude and makes me laugh on a regular basis. Czarnina Slowsky is a box turtle that I recently adopted from the Humane Society.

In my spare time, I like to watch movies, play with my dogs, and spend time with my friends. I love to work here because I like to see owners who are happy with their adorable pets. The most rewarding thing for me is to see pets and their owners leave happy and healthy.

Tammy Stanley, Licensed Veterinary Technician Tammy
I have been working at Parkway since October 2007. I am a Licensed Veterinary Technician here and I love my job. It is one of the reasons I get up everyday. Not many people can say they are doing a job that they love.

I am starting college in January part-time to earn a BA in business.

My family is wonderful and very supportive. I am getting married next year. I have 2 great children and a soon-to-be stepson. We have 2 cats, 2 rats, fish and an iguana. Basically a full house and farm in one. Eventually I would love to own horses and actually have a farm.

Sheila Thibodeau, Assistant
SheilaMy name is Sheila and I have been working here since Oct 2003.  Mother of two, a beautiful daughter and a crazy Jack Russell named "Scrappy".  Scrappy is a patient here who sees all three doctors whom I trust completely.

I love my job here at Partway and I am very fortunate to work here.  This is a very cheerful, caring, and challenging job.  I have learned a lot as a veterinary assistant and have loved everyday of it.  I am currently working towards an Associate of Applied Science degree in Respiratory Therapy at Oakland Community College.

I will miss our patients, clients, and staff here at Parkway the day that I complete my degree and move on to my new career, but my Scrappy will always be a patient.

Ethan Walsh, Veterinary AssistantEthan Walsh
I am a Veterinary Assistant at the Canton Office. I have worked at Parkway since the summer of 2006. I enjoy working with the animals because I am interested in becoming a Veterinarian in the future.

I have had pets my whole life. I have a Pug named Lucy, who has been with my family since August of 2006. I also have a cat named Ester, who came to us in 2004.

Geraldine Karas, Client CareGeraldine
I have been at Parkway for several years but have worked in the Veterinary field for about 10 years. I really enjoy working with people and animals. Parkway is a great place to work because you never know what the next day will bring. The entire staff works here because of their love of animals

I live with my husband Ed. I have 3 adult children and 3 cats. In my spare time I like to read, quilt, and garden. I also enjoy spending time with my friends and trying new restaurants.

Corey Walsh, Client Care
Corey WalshI have been at Parkway since the fall of 2004. My son Ethan worked here and loved it so he put in a good word for me. The doctors were so wonderful and I knew it would be a great place to work. I love working with people and their pets so it was a great fit.

I live with my husband Jim and my three children, Ethan, Ryan, and Caitie. I also have a pug named Lucy and a Calico cat named Esther.

Deb Ripplinger, Client Care
DebI have been working at Parkway Vet as Client Care since September 2003. I wanted to work in the veterinary field because of my love for animals. I own two dogs with my husband; Bailey, a nine year-old Springer Spaniel, and Gizmo, a four year-old Shih-tzu. Both of them were from the Humane Society.

I enjoy many different hobbies, including reading and antiques. One of my passions is traveling and Chinese history. I have traveled extensively, including to such exotic locales like China, England, Iceland, Greece, Malta, Hawaii, Ireland, Jamaica, Scotland, and Italy. My previous career as a travel agent for 18 years probably has something to do with it!

I like working at Parkway because I like to improve our patients lives through the education of their owners.

Aliisa Vint, Kennel AssistantAlissa
I have been working at Parkway since June of 2007. My love for animals inspired me to work here, along with my interest in medicine.

In the fall of 2008 I will be attending Madonna University for Human Resource Management. My experience at Parkway is certainly going into consideration towards this choice.

I've had the pleasure of being surrounded by animals my whole like. From growing up on my Grandparents farm in Australia to having Parakeets and a Wheaten Terrier named Teddy. here in Michigan.  I play the violin and I enjoy traveling.  I was born in Australia and I have been to 48 states.  I have also been to New Zealand.
